Fresh ideas and business advice from Innocent: create a great working environment

Featuring...
Business development insights and marketing strategy advice from the founders of one of the UK's most innovative brands, Innocent:

DAN GERMAIN: ... it isn't a statement of: hey come in, look how crazy we are with our crazy offices. It's just we would like to work in a slightly more relaxed way and we would like you to be really comfortable. We would like you to feel like coming here every day isn't a chore. And if you feel all those things then you'll probably work better. You'll probably work a bit more effectively, because there are more spaces to go and just sit down and think, sit down and work quietly in, or, you know, do work how you want to work. Some people like to work at one end of the building where it's quite busy, quite noisy. Then you go down to the other end and it's quite quiet, that's where I work, down at that end. And so they're different bits to suit different people or moods.

... ultimately when you walk through the door on your first day you think right this is different. This is what it's going to be like. Honestly, I've worked in this building now for nine years. The first year of business we were in a different places which was kind of "proto-this" because we were still trying to make it our own. So yeah sometimes I guess I get blase about it because it's nine years, working in the same place for nine years. But I still love it. I still feel -- I've had some of my best days ever in this building. It's probably getting a bit shabby now. We're talking about doing some bits of it up again because it's probably been a couple of years since we've had a big clear out and a clear up. But yeah, I don't know, I think it encourages people to just not feel like they are being forced to do anything hopefully; doing things they want to do that will make a big difference to the way the business runs and is successful.
