More social marketing tips and business advice from expert Hilary Topper:

Hi this is Hilary Topper from HJMT Communications, and this week we're going to talk a little bit about Domino's Pizza and what happened with their crisis management situation.

I don't know if you remember or even know about this but a couple of the employees from Domino's, they tainted the pizza and they videotaped it. And what happened was the video that they made on YouTube went viral.

But, it took a few days before the Domino's representatives got on the band-wagon to respond to it. And that's really important. I mean one of the things when you have a company or brand name out there is to really monitor all the things that are going on with the internet. And there's lots of different programs that you can get, alerts that you can get so that you see right away when someone's talking about you, or talking negative about you, or what have you.

In addition to that, what Domino's needed to do, and what every company needs to do, is to create some type of a crisis management plan. In addition to that, they need to have some type of a plan in place for employees using Facebook and YouTube, etcetera, Twitter, etcetera, to say negative things about the company. I mean that's obviously a taboo, and we shouldn't be doing that.

So there's got to be some type of guideline there. If the Domino's Pizza people, you know the representatives from Domino's Pizza, responded quicker to this, it wouldn't have gone viral, and they would have been able to nip the whole thing in the bud. So we need to learn from that, and that's really important.

The main point here is monitor your brand at all times. It's very, very important to do that. Also, deal with any type of situation immediately.

You know, try and nip it right in the bud before it becomes a viral situation and people stop using your brands.
So those are really important tips.

This is Hilary Topper from HJMT signing out, have a wonderful day.
