Identify and define specific customer segments for your product or service and focus on promoting to that niche, not scatter-gun.

Niches can be defined in geographic terms, needs and attitudes, personal characteristics, behaviours, job titles, company cultures and processes, etc.

Remember too that the customer's journey to become aware of and interested in your product will involve more than one step.

Understand those steps and devise appropriate messages and incentives to help encourage them along that journey.
