Business sales tips from Lori Richardson: always set a next action

Featuring...

  • Lori Richardson
Author and blogger on B2B selling and founder of Score More Sales ...
There’s a simple piece of sales advice that could really have a dramatic effect on your business’s sales figures. It may not be rocket science, but often the most powerful, practical business sales tips aren’t.

The sales advice is given by sales guru Lori Richardson of Score More Sales, a popular blogger and one of yourBusinessChannel’s weekly business experts. In her sales advice on her latest business TV show, Richardson stresses the importance of always setting a next action when you’re in a sales meeting.

According to Richardson, this simple little business sales tip will have a tremendous impact. The reason for this is simple, as she explains in the show in her sales advice. When you meet with a client and write down the key outcomes and follow-up points, you are giving yourself a series of opportunities to follow up with that client.

Far from pestering them or being annoying, when you contact the client again, you will be showing that you have listened to them, that you have taken notes, and acted on them You are not the kind of salesperson who forgets commitments that you have made.

On the business TV show, Richardson recommends that all sales staff get into the mindset that whenever they go into a meeting they should keep a careful record of what the follow up points are. In her sales advice, she says that in every meeting there will be some point that needs following up. There might be an agreement that needs reviewing or updating, for example, or some records that need checking.

The beauty of this sales advice is that you then have the perfect excuse to follow up with that customer, and far from appearing over eager or intrusive, you will be showing that you are highly professional and organised.

Richardson talks in more detail about this business sales tip on the full business TV show available for free right here at yourBusinessChannel.
