Business development tips on Freemium: Don't give too much away!

In this business development series we bring freemium tips from succesful freemium businesses.

Careful what you give away!

The biggest mistake is giving away too much or too little with your free model If you give away too much with the free account in the first place then it's hard to put the genie back in the bottle Why not try and get your freemium users to work harder? Perhaps they need to give more feedback to earn the right to freemium? Try to upsell at all points but without it being too in your face.

If you can show potential clients what needs to be done you will be their hero and they will remember and contact you The most important thing is not to do the work for free Free advice and direction is one thing the sweat from your brow is something entirely different.
Gary Pool, SEOPD

Do not offer phone and emails for free Beyond the half hour, make sure they know they will be charged for your time but it will be worth it for the great results you will produce Be firm and kind on this.
Jennifer Norene, Generous Marketing

Balance is key You need to make the Freemium meaningful enough for people to take notice and utilize the service but not give away too much at the same time
